STRENGTHENING REPRESENTATION IN THE FILM AND MEDIA INDUSTRY

WIFT INTERNATIONAL (WIFTI)

The first association for women in the film industry was founded in Los Angeles in 1973 under the name Women in Film (WIF). More associations were founded in the coming years, in the US as well as Canada, UK and Australia. In September 1997, WIF held their first Women in Film and Television International World Summit in NYC, where the mother organisation WIFT International (WIFTI) was founded. Since then, WIFTI has grown into a global network of 70 chapters with over 10,000 members worldwide. The chapters can be seen on WIFTI’s website. As one of WIFTI’s subsidiary organisations, WIFT Denmark is bound by WIFTI’s statutes.

The three pillars that inspire WIFTI’s work are:

  • CONNECTION – Connect all members
  • KNOWLEDGE – Share knowledge, experiences and industry information
  • VISIBILITY – Be seen and recognized
